We are so excited to announce that our CD release concert is happening on May 19th at Centralia College Corbet Theatre. 6:30pm.

California Sun

Early Wednesday morning last week we all piled into our big, grey, fifteen passenger van to make our way south with our final destination being Borrego Springs. Every year since our grandparents moved to Borrego Springs, CA we have made a trip during the month of March to see them. Our brother Joby, his wife Paula, and our niece Andi were able to fly down and join us for about four days and spend some time goofing around in Borrego.

We had a birthday dinner at Grandmas for all the March birthdays. Andi, Joby and Rudy.

Last night after a concert at a church here in Borrego I was asked how I liked being in a family of ten children. It’s not an uncommon question for me to hear, but for some reason I was caught off guard when asked. The thing is, I can’t really say what it would be like to not be from a large family. I can’t imagine what it would be like to not have any of my siblings, and each time another sibling was born into the family they slipped right into their place and role.

While I can’t know what it would be like to be in a smaller family, I will try to imagine. I think I wouldn’t have as many people stealing my toothbrush, wearing my clothes, laying on top of me in the van or making fun of me when I do stupid things. When I really think about it, my family is what keeps me from living selfishly. I am not suggesting that I don’t struggle with selfishness, but being in a big family forces me to learn how to work on relationships, to think about other people and to invest in the ways that count. If it were just me, or me and a couple others, I shudder to think of how much more selfish I might be without this family accountability.

I know God works in all of our lives differently. I suppose if I wasn’t from a large family He would have found another way to keep me from my self. All relationships take work, whether you are a family of two or twelve. But, I am grateful He chose this avenue for me and that He knew exactly what I would need to fulfill His purpose for my life. It is humbling to be in a role in which I had no control. I didn’t choose the family I was born in to; my parents, siblings and grandparents. I can only rest and rejoice that the Lord knows exactly what He is doing ALL the time. I want to embrace and live fully with gratefulness wherever He has me, with whomever He has placed in my life. I want my life to be about Jesus- learning to live, love and serve like Him. I can’t think of a better place to learn of Him- being right smack in the middle of a huge family. It is a good thing.

We are nearing the completion of our album! I am in the studio right now wrapping up some final tracks before we head to California tomorrow. (check our schedule to see if we are playing near you!) After all the tracks are mixed we can get them mastered and duplicated.
By using Kickstarter.com we have created a way for you to pre-order your album. This will also help us raise funds to finish the album. Take a look at our project here!

We will be in the studio most of the month of February recording a new album! Lord willing, it will be done by the middle or March. We would appreciate prayers for the advancement of this project and wait expectantly on the Lord for His fresh work of grace in our lives each day.
